Cincinnati Joe & Mad Lydia – Cincinnati Joe & Mad Lydia (1971)

Legendary, special and unique higher key “real people” LP that goes all over the map from psych to funk femme folk psych all with their own perspective and filtered through a half empty Holiday Inn lounge vibe. Quite unexplainable but very enjoyable. (subliminal sounds)

    WOW!!!!
i remember them from mahogany hall in mt. adams. if memory serves me right, mad lydia was the sister of “jelly puddin’s” david xanadu (frank wood jr.). i had no idea they were known outside cincinnati.
thanks a lot my friend, this brings back memories along with your posting of sacred mushroom.

Woah. Dylan Thomas, I thought I smoked a lot then. I don’t think Lydia was any relation to Michael Zanadu. Probably thinking of Robin Wood who went from flower child DJ to florist. Good to hear from an old freak from Cincinnati, though. Now, what ever happened to Popeye Maupin?

As I listen to my good friends; I was priviledged to have played
music with them. That magical voice of Lydia and the great performer
that Joe is. I would like to see my old friends very talented and Hard
workers in Music. If you get this message; all the way from Reynoldsburg Ohio E-mail me, or call 6149867608.
Would you happen to have any old Fotoe’s of the old Group
when we played at the club down town Cincinnati?

Yes VanGo, Lydia is a Wood. That is Lydia Wood, Robin Wood’s sister. She sounds exactly like Robin when she talks. I thought it was Robin the first time I met her since I had never seen a pic of her, only her voice on the radio. Lydia owned Wizards Wardrobe in Mt. Lookout Square for years. Can’t tell you where she is today though.
